Married Douglas couple fighting cancer

EVERY newly-married couple faces challenges but Leslie and Andrew March of Douglas are taking on perhaps the most dreaded one of them all...cancer.

In fact, it was just a few months before their wedding in August last year that 51-year-old veterinary nurse Leslie was diagnosed with the disease.

Even getting to the truth behind symptoms she'd been suffering long before that was an uphill struggle, her doctor diagnosing these as simply the menopause until tests finally confirmed cancer of the endometrium last spring.

Not only did the couple go ahead with their wedding of last year but, explained Leslie, it gave her and Andrew a whole new outlook on life and their marriage.

She said: "The diagnosis galvanised our thinking and made us realise that we had to focus on the future and start doing the things we had only talked about before.
