Mearns Primary School pupils raise a toast to Rabbie Burns

More than 300 guests attended a special Burns Supper last Friday organised by the four Primary five classes at Mearns Primary School.

The children learned Burns songs and about his life with each class reciting a Burns poem.

The pupils then served their families haggis, neeps and tatties with a piper welcoming guests and leading the haggis.

After the food was served, the youngsters moved to the gym hall where a live ceilidh band played Scottish dance music.

The event was finished with the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
