Milngavie Alive will be a week of family fun activities

A week of celebrations culminating in the Commonwealth Games Baton arriving in Milngavie kicks-off next Monday.

The ‘Milngavie Alive’ initiative which is a collaboration between Milngavie Youth Centre and local businesses under the new Milngavie My Way BID company.

Daily activities from Monday and Friday include three hours of archery at Lennox Park; three, two hour sessions of mountain biking leaving from Milngavie Youth Centre; and health and well-being sessions at Milngavie Youth Centre - where booking forms for all activities can be picked up.

Next Wednesday A Jazz Concert is planned in Milngavie Town Hall. Tickets are available from Iron Chef, Milngavie Book Shop and Bullands, costing £7.

On Saturday, when the baton procession has passed through Milngavie, the town centre will host a duck race on the Allander organised by the Rotary Club. A street band and other entertainment stalls with a climbing wall are also planned. Other attractions will be happening in Lennox Park.

On the sporting front a football festival takes place in Oakburn Park on Saturday organised by Milngavie Boys Club with help from Milngavie Youth Centre. Training sessions start at 11am (under 18s) followed by 5-a-side games. For more go to [email protected]
