Milngavie Week's coming to an end with more events

Don't forget that Milngavie Week ends this Saturday, June 18 with a Classic Car Show in the precinct from 10am to 4pm.

There will also be a ‘Garden in a Container’ competition the same day with cash prizes and trophies up for grabs. Please take your unusual containers to Milngavie Youth Centre.

The popular plastic duck race down the Allander is also on Saturday, departs from the precinct at 2.45pm. Cost £1 per duck and proceeds go to charity.

You can also celebrate the West Highland Way and Milngavie In Bloom’s work to brighten up the start of the famous walk. Folk singer and broadcaster Jimmie McGregor will be joining the celebration.

Alistair McDonald, Cilla Fisher, Artie Tresize, Slowtrain and more will be performing in the evening on Saturday at the Fraser Centre to raise money for the Beatson Cancer charity. Doors open 7pm. Cost £10. Tickets from Art Forum.

The Heritage exhibition about education and transport in the area will be in Milngavie Town Hall and a children’s art exhibition called ‘What Community Means To Us’ will be at Tesco by students at Art at The Grange in Bearsden.

Primary Schools will also be visiting Tesco for ‘Farm to Fork’ demonstrations and tasting.

Tomorrow (Friday, June 17) there will be a guided walk of part of the Clyde Coastal Path leaving at 2pm from Milngavie Golf Club.

There will also be a children’s cat show the same day at 6pm in Milngavie Town Hall - there will be goody bags for best kitten, adult, senior and best in show.

You could also enter your dog into a competition (completely separate from the cat show!) the same day at 6pm in Milngavie Town Hall.

Also on Friday at 7pm meet at Garvie & Co for a car treasure hunt - follow the treasure map, find the clues and win a prize.
