More big cat sightings in East Dunbartonshire

The latest claims come after local woman Marie Borthwick contacted the Herald on Tuesday.

She is convinced she saw a big cat when she was out for a walk on Mugdock Road at Milngavie on May 30 this year.

Marie has got in touch with more information about the sighting.

She said: “I was walking up from Drumclog car park on the left-hand side of the road, around 10am.

“The cat appeared on the right side of the road, just before the field where the horses are kept.

“It walked right across the road and jumped over the wall into the field at Mugdock Park. It was definitely a cat, due to the way it walked and the ease of movement up and over the wall.”

People posted about sightings this week on the Kirkintilloch Herald’s Facebook page.

They include Sandra Darwish who posted: “I saw one on the Old Mugdock road approx 2004/2005 whilst driving in the evening.”

While Ruth Terry posted: “My husband seen this ‘cat’ in 1998. He was on night shift 5am in Robroyston Road. He says he will never forget, it was so black and glossy he had to go to Beard Street to report it but police never really took it serious.”

Kirsty Cunningham added: “Me and my mum seen one last year on the back road from Robroyston to Kirky. No one believed us.”

On the Milngavie and Herald Facebook page, Rudi De Groote posted: “I did actually see a very large cat crossing the road at Mugdock park late one night about 8 years ago.. Seriously thought I was seeing things... but if other folk are reporting sightings perhaps I needn’t have gone to specsavers...”
