More Calls For Heroes cards going to Afghanistan

THE third batch of Calls For Heroes phone cards will soon be on their way to servicemen and women serving in Afghanistan.

The phone cards will see hundreds of brave British troops thousands of miles away receive an extra 90 minutes of free talk time to catch up with family and friends.

The campaign, which was originally conceived by members of Carluke Rotary Club, has been a runaway success since it was first launched in September 2010 and has won praise from the armed forces and the public.

Michael Arthur, a Carluke Rotary Club member, is delighted that more servicemen and women will benefit from the scheme soon.

He said: “Everyone involved with the club was very pleased when we heard at one of our meetings that the third batch was to be sent out.

“What was really pleasing was that these cards were being sent out to frontline troops.”
