The latest figures released on Parentzone focus on 2013-14, showing that 56 per cent of East Ren school leavers achieved five or more Highers — up 47% from the previous year and towering about the national average of 29%.

In the same year, 96% of school leavers went on to education, employment or training.

Mhairi Shaw, East Renfrewshire Council’s director of education, said: “These results are a testimony to the hard work and dedication of our pupils, teachers, education staff and parents.

“Everyone who contributes day in, day out across our schools to support and develop the young people should be proud of our achievements and we are looking towards how we can build on these successes in the future.”

The information released on Parentzone includes, for the first time, a virtual comparator, allowing schools or local authorities to compare their performance against areas with similar characteristics — and it’s good news for St Ninian’s, according to ERC, as the school was 21% above its virtual comparator.
