More traffic chaos in pipeline for Lanark

THE massive disruption to Lanark’s traffic being caused by laying a new electricity cable through the town is about to get even worse – but it’s all worth it.

So claimed ScottishPower as its £4.6 million project – running a new cable from Stonebyres through the heart of the town to a new substation in Whitelees Road – continues.

It has already caused major traffic hold-ups but worse is to come with the closure of one of the main routes in and out of Lanark, the A72 at Kirkfieldbank Brae, being shut for a whole fortnight.
