Motorcyclist dies following bus crash

A man, as yet unnamed by police, has died following a road traffic collision in East Kilbride on Sunday, August 9.

Around 1545 hrs, a 56-year-old man was riding his Honda motorcycle on the A726, Strathaven Road, East Kilbride towards Chapelton when he collided with a bus that was travelling in the same direction.

The rider was taken to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride but unfortunately he died a short time later from his injuries.

The 34-year-old driver of the bus or any of his passengers sustained any injuries.

Constable Simon Reilly from Police Scotland’s Road Policing Department at Motherwell is appealing for witnesses to the crash. He can be contacted via Police Scotland on 101.

A report on the incident will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
