MP Jim Hood hits out at plans to scrap his constituency

VETERAN Lanark and Carluke MP Jim Hood has lashed out at plans to scrap his constituency at the next election as a shameless political fix.

Much of the national publicity surrounding the Boundary Commission changes to slash Scottish MPs from 59 to 52 has centred so far on neighbouring sole Scots Tory MP David Mundell losing his Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale Constituency, containing Biggar and the Douglas Valley.

However, it has transpired that there are far, far wider implications for our area with Labour’s Jim Hood seeing his Lanark and Hamilton East Constituency disappear in the same shake-up.
