Cold weather payments are automatically made to people who receive pension credit, income support, income-based jobseeker’s allowance and income-related employment and support allowance during periods of very cold weather.
MP Gregg McClymont says the payments, worth £25, were triggered on March 15 following several days of low temperatures.

He said: “Many of us have turned up the heating over the past week given the sudden drop in temperature so it is important that those who are entitled to help with their bills actually receive it.
“As energy companies continue to hike up prices despite growing profits, these payments will mean a lot to struggling households.
“Cold weather payments are automatically paid to people who qualify for them, but it is worth checking that you have received the payments.
