MSP gets quizzed by school pupils

Politically engaged Bearsden youngsters quizzed MSP Gil Paterson on what it's like to be a politician in The Scottish Parliament recently.

The modern studies class probed Gil Paterson on his political beliefs, personal life and life as an MSP.

Mr Paterson was delighted to attend the school as part of an annual fixture to speak to the pupils, some of which are aspiring journalists and politicians themselves.

He said: “I was very impressed with the pupils at Bearsden Academy’s S3 modern studies class when I visited – I would like to publicly thank the school for inviting me along. The pupils had great questions, from asking me about my life in parliament, to my hobbies, family and US politics.

“Visiting schools and taking questions from young people interested in politics is something I really like doing, it’s inspiring to see those at just 14-years-old taking such an interest in our democracy and how it functions.”
