Muirend writer publishes first novel

A former education director, Richard turned to journalism after early retirement before working his way into writing for television.

Having gained experience there, he set about writing The Girl with the Haunting Smile — a story about Tourette syndrome sufferer Greg Harris and his obsession with a childhood encounter.

An active member of the community, Richard is a former chair of Giffnock community council, as well as director of East Park and secretary of the Mearns Probus club.
