Music legends are the latest MugStock coup

MugStock, Scotland's newest music festival which is on this weekend at Mugdock Country Park, is delighted to announce a new band to their already impressive headline acts.

Legendary Glasgow act BMX Bandits will join Emma Pollock, Stanley Odd and Siobhan Wilson at the top of the bill, on the Sunday evening (July 31) of the boutique festival below 14th Century Mugdock Castle.

BMX Bandits, the brainchild of Duglas T Stewart, are currently celebrating their 30th anniversary with a year-long tour and a new album, BMX Bandits Forever, due out this summer.

One of Alan McGee’s earliest signings at Creation Records, they provided Oasis with their first UK tour dates, supporting BMX Bandits on tour in the early 90s.

Best known for 1993’s ‘Serious Drugs’, the band have collaborated regularly with Teenage Fanclub’s Norman Blake, Frances McKee of The Vaselines, David Scott of The Pearlfishers and Sean Dickson of The Soup Dragons.

Duglas will be joined on stage as part of the current tour by newest band member Chloe Philip, a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist bringing an extra exuberant edge to the Bandits’ live experience.

The boutique music and arts festival is on bank holiday weekend (July 29 – 31).

Revellers can enjoy everything from indie and folk to pop, reggae, dub, soul and blues in relaxed, intimate and beautiful surroundings. Electronica fans should make their way to The Glade, a brand new stage featuring the best beats in an idyllic setting.

MugStock’s five stages cover theatre, discussion events, walkabout performers popping up in the woods, spoken word acts in the brand new Tchai Ovna tent, a trail of art works hidden in the woods, and a treasure hunt through the nooks and crannies of the park to help festival-goers orient themselves.

There are three licensed bars on site, selling Williams Brothers beer and real ale, Thistly Cross ciders and Glengoyne gourmet whisky, and there will be a variety of international street food stalls.

Full adult weekend tickets cost £75, and £37.50 for 13-17 year olds and over 60s. Under 12s go free, and camping passes are included free with every ticket. Visit www.mugstock.org/tickets for full details.
