Mystery kittens found in car park

Dubbed Twinkle, Tinsel and Star by the Scottish SPCA the kittens are just a couple of weeks old and seemed to be in good condition when discovered wandering around Lilac Avenue late at night.

The SSPCA were alerted next morning, and have since been caring for the tiny wanderers at the Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre at Bothwell Bridge in Hamilton – where they were promptly given their seasonally-themed pet names.

It’s the time of year when the SSPCA warns people to beware of buying kittens of puppies on a whim as Christmas presents, stressing that animals deserve to receive a lifetime’s worth of care.

But these three may just be part of a litter belonging to a cat who has given birth outdoors – there’s no way of telling.

However if they hadn’t been rescued by a kindly resident they would not have survived long.

Animal Rescue Officer Stephanie McCrossan said: “The kittens were found in the middle of the night by one of the residents.

“Twinkle, Tinsel and Star were all clean and in good condition and at this point we’re not sure what’s happened to them.

“It’s possible their mum has been moving them around and they may have become separated.

“However, we also have to consider that they may have been deliberately dumped so we are appealing for any information.

“We’ll continue to look after Twinkle, Tinsel and Star until we can find them all loving new homes.”
