Mystery rail worker goes extra mile for passenger who lost purse

The big-hearted member of staff travelled from Stirling to East Dunbartonshire in the early hours of the moring to personally deliver the purse to a passenger who had left it on board a train.

The lady’s sister Phyllis Henderson posted on Facebook on Saturday, January 16: “I cannot thank the ScotRail employee enough for travelling from Stirling to my sister’s house at 1am to personally deliver her purse which she left on the train tonight.

“She had £120, including bank cards.

“He wouldn’t give his name or take a reward but he is from Lennoxtown, a true God send. Thank you for everything.”

It is believed the rail worker’s first name is Wullie.

Phyllis added on the Lenzie Glasgow Facebook site: “My sis was distraught as it had her kid’s scan pics and personal things too.”

Fellow Facebook followers were full of praise for the Scotrail worker.

Abdah Javaid posted: “A lovely gesture”, while Gillian McCabe added: “Well done Wullie. A Knight in Shining Armour!”

Ronnie McFarlane posted: “I hope he puts a lottery on and wins the jackpot. That would be Karma. Respect, mate.”

Many of the people who saw the Facebook post said they would be contacting Scotrail to make sure he received official recognition for his good deed.
