Nashville package for Kathleen Hogg, Lanark

IT MIGHT be a long way from Nashville's Grand Ol' Opry theatre to Lanark's Bridge community meeting place in St Leonard Street.

But the links between the two very different buildings are already strong and were strengthened even more at a recent gathering.

The Bridge-based Clydesdale Community Volunteers Activities Group (CCVAG) held a special photoshoot for the Gazette in order to unveil its new logo (pictured inset).

It was also a chance for the group's organiser, Kathleen Hogg, of Douglas Water, to show off some of the very special gifts she had received from the home of country and western music, with the message "See you soon, Kathleen".

Kathleen planned to make a visit to Nashville's great musical theatre at her own expense to see one of her country music idols, Roy Clark.

Sadly, at the last minute her trip was called off due to the Icelandic volcanic eruption.

But she recently received a "lovely" package of gifts from the firefighters in Nashville and from her hero Roy Clark.
