New business centre to open in Lanark

A NEW business centre, aimed at helping small firms, is to be created in Lanark.

The new centre, which will be located at the former Winston Squash Club base in North Vennel, owned by South Lanarkshire Council, was given the go-ahead by its planning committee last Tuesday.

The centre will provide 10 office units for small businesses as well as two meeting rooms and toilet and kitchen facilities.

The building, latterly used as a gym, has been empty since January 2010 when the new Lanark Lifestyles Centre opened.

The building would be converted, not totally demolished.

The site has no car parking of its own but council officials believe that existing town centre car parking will serve the new centre.
