New chapter for Condorrat Library

CONDORRAT Library is to close tomorrrow (Thursday March 15) for a full refurbishment which promises to give the facility a brand new look.

Workmen will move in to install new automatic doors at the entrance, fit new carpets, do a paint job and upgrade the meeting room. New lighting will be installed and some windows will be replaced to improve natural light levels within the building.

Library users are being asked to renew their books at other Cumbernauld libraries or to deposit items at the back door of the library between 9am and 5pm on weekdays.

Lending services manager Wendy Bennet said: “Our regular borrowers have received some notice of the works. Now that it’s happening, we want local residents to be aware of our refurbishment plans to improve the look of this library.”

She added: “I’m sure regular visitors to these libraries will notice a real difference and enjoy their new and improved surroundings.”

The library is expected to re-open the end of the month.
