New golf course, near Carnwath, could bring up 600 jobs

Ambitious plans have been unveiled for a new championship golf resort just outside Carnwath.

The development, with an estimated cost of around £125 million, would be at Kersewell Mains adjoining the village and create more than 600 jobs.

Two-time Major winner Sandy Lyle is co-designing the course, alongside renowned golf architect Scott Macpherson, while the new course’s builders, David and Eric Sammels, are currently on their way to Gleneagles to help with re-designing of the course for the 2014 Ryder Cup.

Derek said: “We are hoping to start work in the spring and we are in the process of getting detailed planning consent as we have already been given outline permission.”
