New group hopes to give Kilsyth park a new lease of life

A quick flick through the archives of the Kilsyth Chronicle will tell you all you need to know about the stature Bogside Park, on Howe Road, once held within the town.

The lush grassland, below, was once the focal point for every outdoor community event, in much the same way as Burngreen Park is now.

Sadly, Bogside has since fallen from grace and is now often more associated with vandalism, drug dealing and under-age drinking.

However, tomorrow will mark a new chapter in the park’s history as the newly formed Friends of Bogside Park group will meet for the first time to elect office bearers.

Cheryl Anderson, who is the driving force behind the group, is looking forward to getting started.
