The former Antonine Pub in Kirkintilloch, renamed The Lion & Star after the town’s two famous foundries, has an opening date of Wednesday, March 23.

A spokesperson for Star Pubs & Bars who own the venue, said: “People can apply via the email address [email protected] or via the job centre.”

Posts available range from managers to kitchen staff, cleaners, bar staff and waiting staff. Of these, the firm says 60 per cent will be part-time positions.

The new owners are still on the lookout for one of the iconic red telephone boxes which were produced at the foundries.

Pub operator Stephen Bremner said: “If anyone has one and is looking for a new home for it, we’d love to hear from you.”
