New home for charity

A CUMBERNAULD charity officially opened its new premises recently.

Based at Lennox House in Seafar, Now You’re Talking offers various services and support for people with depression and other mental health problems, designed to help them gain confidence and skills. The centre was opened by Cumbernauld Community Forum chairman Billy Lees.

Billy said: “I’ve supported this organisation from the start and attended the first thing they ever put on, a play about drugs and alcohol and similar common issues affecting lives in Glasgow. Now You’re Talking has come on in leaps and bounds since then and the work they’re doing with depression, mental health issues and suicide prevention is fantastic as there’s not always a lot of help available for people in these situations.

Charity founder David McArthur added: “Our team is made up of people with real experience of these issues, and with an extended network of help from health organisations, councils and arts organisations, we can help to alleviate loneliness and anxiety through a variety of activities.

The use of art, in various forms, is known to aid recovery.

“I wish to thank all who braved the horrendous weather conditions, and helped to make our official launch truly memorable.”
