New homes kick-off at Adamslie car park

BUILDING work is underway at Kirkintilloch Rob Roy’s former car park - but the club is no closer to securing a dream new stadium.

Rabs will be back at Adamslie Park for their first home game of the season - a sectional cup tie against Rossvale on Saturday, August 11.

Supporters will find the ground is surrounded by a construction site, as Turnberry Homes have moved on-site to build 28 homes on the former car park.

The developers bought the ground from the club, who were planning to use the cash to build a new stadium.

Two sites, in the town’s Hayston area and Luggie Park, have been suggested only to be abandoned.

Now a plot of land near Southbank Marina is being considered, but in the meantime the club will have to function without a car park.

Club secretary Charles O’Brien told the Herald that he didn’t expect there to be any problems but, if any arose, Rabs would “cross that bridge when we come to it”.
