New lease of life for Monteith House, Carstairs

ALMOST two years after it closed, Monteith House Nursing Home is to be re-born, re-employing many of its former staff from the Clydesdale area.

The home was closed by its overseas owners in September 2009 and the Gazette has now learned that it has been acquired by a Scottish-based care home business and a major refurbishment is underway with hopes of an autumn re-opening.

Initially, the ‘new’ Monteith House will employ 20 people to staff what the new owners term Phase One of the refurbishment, the main building, designed to accommodate 27 residents.

In a Phase Two major revamp of another part of the property a specialist dementia care unit is to be created and is certain to provide even more employment.
