New minister takes up the call at Hillhead Church

Hillhead Parish church has welcomed a new minister to its flock.

Bill Finnie (64) who is from Cambuslang, took up his new post as Ordained Local Minister on September 16.

Mr Finnie was a social worker for 25 years based in Glasgow and Lanarkshire before he answered the call to the ministry.

He studied part-time at Aberdeen University for his degree in divinity.

Mr Finnie said: “I am looking forward to my post at Hillhead very much. It is a very friendly church.

“The people go out of their way to make you 
welcome. “

He said his previous career as a social worker helped prepare him for becoming a minister.

Mr Finnie added: “Social work is a very worthwhile job. I have never regretted being a social worker.”

Hillhead Church is based at 2 Rosebank Avenue, Kirkintilloch. Services are held every Sunday at the usual time of 11a.

There is a small Sunday School and creche which meets during morning 
service.
