New police chief speaks to the Gazette

CLYDESDALE’S new police commander is Chief Inspector David Walker, who took up his post on Tuesday.

He succeeds Chief Inspector Colin Murphy who retired last month.

And David has one massive advantage as he begins his new role - he knows the area very well as he has lived in Carluke for the last 15 years.

He is a keen golfer, but his other hobby, cycling, has given him first-hand knowledge of Clydesdale’s roads!

His wife is from Carluke, and the couple have brought up their two children there.

“I have that connection to the area, so when the commander said ‘Could you take over from Colin?’ I jumped at the chance,” he said.
