New Visibility Scotland podcast launches with inspirational line-up

The EyeCan Podcast brings listeners into candid, uplifting conversations with brilliant hosts Audrey Ward and Lara Maudsley - both of whom work for Visibility Scotland and bring a unique dynamic to the podcast. Funny, smart and joyous, they provide a safe space for all guests to share their experiences and have fun.

A powerful new podcast from Visibility Scotland is set to amplify the voices of people living with vision impairment and blindness, launching with an extraordinary line-up of guests who are redefining what’s possible.

EyeCan features guests who are breaking barriers across broadcasting, sport, and adventure. Kicking off with BBC presenter Ian Hamilton, the podcast also features Paralympic swimmer Melanie Barratt, who became the first blind woman to swim the English Channel, landing her an entry in the Guinness Book of Records! Mountaineer, Dr Karolina Pakenaite, who will be the first DeafBlind woman to summit Everest, joins the line-up, along with Alan MacDonald, the familiar Scottish voice of Lidl self-checkouts.

EyeCan offers a fresh and necessary platform- placing lived experience front and centre, and celebrating ambition, resilience and humour in equal measure.

Laura Walker, CEO of Visibility Scotland, said: “In the UK, one in five will live with sight loss in their lifetime. EyeCan is about changing the narrative around vision impairment. Too often, people’s stories are told for them or reduced to limitations. This podcast is about handing the mic back- sharing real experiences, big ambitions, and everyday moments (good and bad) that don’t get talked about enough. We hope EyeCan inspires our audience, challenges perceptions, and empowers societal kindness and encourages what’s truly possible.”

Visibility Scotland has created this podcast to support those living with low or no vision, while also shifting wider public perceptions and sparking new conversations about accessibility and inclusion.
