No Easter holidayfor Lanark's Avril

A Lanark nurse-practitioner, Avril Brown (nee Steel), has been chosen by NHS Scotland to be the 'face' of its publicity campaign to advertise the fact that the health service won't be taking an Easter break like most of us.

Avril, who now works for NHS 24 based at the Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary will, like thousands of her colleagues throughout Scotland, be on duty throughout the holiday weekend.

Avril Brown has been with NHS 24 for 11 years and a nurse for 28 years in total. Being a mum of two now grown-up children, Avril knows a lot about the demands the holiday can place on parents and advises everyone to be prepared to get the best from Easter. She says:“My top tips for staying healthy over Easter are to stock your medicine cabinet with pain-killers like paracetamol or ibuprofen. Make sure you have cold and flu remedies, both adult versions and children’s.”
