No Lotto cash for Castlebank Park, Lanark

IT has finally been confirmed that Castlebank Park has no chance of getting its lottery funding.

In 2006 South Lanarkshire Council lodged a bid for Heritage Lottery Funding of over £1.5 million for ambitious plans to bring new life to the park, with £500,000 of its own funding.

Initially, that seemed to be successful. But there were fears by 2008 that the Lanark bid would be squeezed out.

And now it has now been confirmed that the lottery bid is off.
