Nominate baton carriers for the Games

The search is on for people to participate in the Queen’s Baton relay which will be held preparatory to the 2014 Commwealth Games.

MSP Jamie Hepburn wants constituents to ensure this area is represented by nominating people they feel have done something remarkable or inspirational to deserve the honour of being baton bearers.

He said: “The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games will be a great opportunity for people to enjoy watching an excellent array of sporting ability from athletes from all over the world and for Scotland to show what a truly welcoming and friendly country we are. However, before that the baton relay is a great opportunity for all of us to recognise people within or local communities who make a difference to peoples’ lives every day.

“I would encourage everyone to nominate someone whose achievements or contributions they believe truly deserve recognising.

“ I hope that people will take this as a great opportunity to thank such individuals for their hard work and dedication.”
