Nominate your local hero for new provost awards

COULD you be East Renfrewshire’s citizen of the year?

The council has launched the first ever provost awards, aimed at honouring residents who have made a significant contribution to their community.

A chance to thank those unsung community heroes, nominations are now open - so if you know someone who fits the bill, now is the time to put them forward.

East Renfrewshire provost Alastair Carmichael said: “I meet people every week who are really making a difference to our community.

“I felt it was time to recognise our unsung heroes by launching the provost award - designed to celebrate the achievements and hard work of the many individuals who are tirelessly working behind the scenes for their community.

“So the search starts now for our citizen of the year - make sure your local hero or heroine is in the running for this award and nominate them today.”

Nominations can be made by filling in the form at the East Renfrewshire council website and returning it by post or email.

Deadline for submissions is October 28, and the winners will be invited to council chambers in December, where they will receive a trophy from provost Carmichael.
