Not united on churchclosures

The group set up to look at the future of churches in Clydesdale has been sent back to think again.

Its plan, involving the uniting and closing of churches, was rejected at a stormy meeting of Lanark Presbytery in Carluke on Thursday night.

In a statement afterwards, the body’s clerk, Rev Helen Jamieson said: “Following a lengthy meeting, Presbytery rejected the proposed Presbytery Plan in its present form and the matter was remitted back to the review group for further consideration and consultation with Kirk Sessions.”
