Nurses at Lady Home Hospital in Douglas scoop Lotto jackpot

A syndicate of 30 workers from Lady Home Hospital in Douglas are all in rude health – having won their share in a £1,339,367 Lotto jackpot.

The appropriately named Julie McLuckie (39) – the syndicate head who had bought a winning ticket for Saturday, April 30, online – was stunned and delighted to discover it netted each syndicate member £44,645.

Staff nurse Julie, who discovered the terrific news when checking the numbers on her i-Phone after a weekend in Oban, said: “I confided in my close friend and fellow winner Marion Shaw to help break the news but since she is a bit of a practical joker, no-one believed us at first!

“The atmosphere in the hospital was electric and I am over the moon as it couldn’t happen to a better bunch of girls.

“The boss has told us she isn’t accepting any resignations but we all love our jobs. This is a very special place.

“With the surname McLuckie, I’m thanking my lucky stars!”
