On the move for those in need in Eastwood

Eastwood Rotary Club is on the move for East Renfrewshire Good Causes — and asking others to join them.

Walk for Eastwood takes place on Sunday, April 26 at Rouken Glen Park, along a 1km route.

The aim is to raise as much money as possible, with 75 per cent of it going to ER Good Causes — which funds odd jobs and services for the area’s most vulnerable — and 25% to the club’s other charity endeavours.

ERGC founder Russell Macmillan told The Extra: “We’re asking to please give 10 minutes of your time to walk for your community. Most of the money will be spent in East Ren in a street near you.”

Russell added: “Entry is free and there’s no minimum sponsorship amount or distance. Whether you’re young or old, athletic or not, able or disabled — just do what you’re able to and show you care.”

Organisers are particularly interested in business teams participating, with local groups from Royal Bank of Scotland already taking up the Walk for Eastwood.

The charity founder hopes to create an atmosphere of “friendly rivalry” between workplaces, schools, sports clubs, churches and more.
