Labour’s transport spokesperson and MSP for the West Scotland Neil Bibby has taken concerns about local rail services to the Scottish Parliament after official figures revealed that only one in four trains terminating at Milngavie actually arrived on time.

Annual on Time Arrival at Destination statistics published by ScotRail show that only 25.7 per cent of services terminating at Milngavie station arrive at their designated time, having called at all other booked stations on the route.

Neil Bibby said: “Most passengers appreciate that there are times when disruption just can’t be avoided but the people of Milngavie should not have to tolerate services that arrive late more than they ever arrive on time. The number of delays on local trains is unacceptable and so I have called on the SNP Government to explain exactly what will be done to tackle delays and improve reliability.

“Services into Milngavie are nowhere near good enough and that is why there must now be a specific, clear and robust improvement plan for the route.”
