Charity champ picks up MBE

A CUMBERNAULD man has joined the esteemed members of the British Empire after being rewarded for his charity and fund raising efforts.

Clyde shipyard worker, Willie McLachlan has raised over £1 million for good causes and received an MBE for his commitment and service to charity.

Willie has devoted the past 30 years to raising funds and giving time to a number of charitable organisations close to his heart.

“Charitable work has become a way of life for me,” he said.
