Charity pilots land at airport

Kenny Faichnie, airport operations manger, and his trusty dog Coco greeted the saddle-sore fund-raisers as they set up camp for the night.

RAF Flight Sergeants Rob Gray and Mike Waugh, and Sergeant Matt Lingham, are making their mammoth bike ride to raise funds for Cancer Research UK and the RAF Benevolent Fund. The crewmen of the 33rd Squadron have raised more than £2000 so far and were thankful for the hospitality they received at the airport.

Sergeant Matt Lingham said: “We are really grateful for the welcome we received from everyone in Cumbernauld, in particular Cumbernauld Airport for all their hospitality. They were really supportive and it was a welcome relief after nearly 10 hours in the saddle.”

The crewman are hoping to finish their 1200km charity challenge soon and are eager for to raise as much as possible. Donations can be made online by visiting the cyclists’ charity page
