Legendary clock is alive and ticking!

LOCALS have been treated to a sight and sound they thought they would never experience – as the St Enoch Clock is alive and ticking again!

Experts finally moved in to fix the iconic timpiece made famous by Gregory’s Girl, which has had its giant hands frozen in time for years on end.

The clock, which links the Antonine Centre with the older part of the mall in Forth Walk, also boasts a new protective barrier,

A man who fought for the clock to be restored is Cumbernauld Community Forum chairman Billy Lees, who remembers the giant timepiece with affection.

For ex-Navy man Billy was a commis-chef and wine waiter at the adjacent British rail-owned St Enoch Hotel before he swapped life in the hospitality trade for a life on the ocean wave.
