Outings made easier with new Supervan

The Giffnock charity Cosgrove Care received a £22,000 donation from Children’s Aid that was used to buy a specially -adapted, wheelchair accessible van that will make it easier to take people to go on outings, trips to the countryside and other social events.

A spokeswoman for Cosgrove said: “As well as being fun, these trips can stimulate spontaneous communication as the people are in a new environment that is relaxed and fun.”

The charity also spent £5,000 sprucing up the multi-sensory room.

Cosgrove Care’s chief executive Walter Hecht said: “We are incredibly grateful to have received such generous donations from Childrens Aid. This type of funding means we can continue to provide a holistic service that goes beyond our core services. We pride ourselves in offering added value to families.”

The vehicle was handed over to Cosgrove Care staff and board members by Childrens’ Aid committee members Bryan Jackson and David Jaffe with East Ren Council leader Jim Fletcher, who declared Cosgrove as “the jewel in East Ren’s crown”.
