Oxfam, Lanark, celebrates 30 years in business

LANARK’S Oxfam Shop has celebrated the 30th anniversary of its opening in 1981 by holding a birthday party for some of the volunteers who have served the charity faithfully for many years.

Indeed, the long service awards handed out by manager Bonnie Campbell represented an amazing total of 155 years service to Oxfam, some of the ladies, all from Lanark, even having worked for the charity here before the shop opened.

To mark the shop’s anniversary, the total it has raised for Oxfam’s international charity work over the past three decades was also totted up and came to a breathtaking £2.7 million.
