The daily sessions, which will run between 2 until 4pm from Monday, August 24, are the brainchild of SDS team leader Gillian Atherton.

“Since we moved in to our new centre a few months ago we have had events for local school leavers and training providers. The idea was to let people see where we are and what we do. I felt it was also important for parents and carers to have that opportunity too,” explained Gillian.

She added the Foundry was a “one-stop shop” for people seeking help with skills, employment and training opportunities. “SDS has their new base here, but we also have many of our partner organisations as neighbours. This means people can access a range of services at one time” she said.

The SDS centre, which is staffed by careers advisers, personal advisers and work coaches, is on the upper level of the Barrhead Foundry building, in Main Street.

The opening hours are 9am to 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 1pm until 5pm on Wednesdays.
