Parking blitz

CUMBERNAULD Shopping bosses have warned motorists to beware of a ticket blitz.

Parking restrictions will be enforced in an attempt to stop drivers leaving their cars in prime spaces for extended periods.

Manager Robert Barr said a relaxed approach had been taken in the car parks under his control, on the rooftop and "donwstairs" at Teviot Walk. However, several shopkeepers had complained about drivers leaving their cars in prime spaces beyond the perm-itted four hours.

"We really don't want to ticket anyone which is why we hope people reading this in the paper will take note and park accordingly.

"We don't mind people parking at the far away end of the roof top, and would ask them if they are going to be around for more than four hours to go there.

"It's only fair that spaces closest to the shops are available for the use of shoppers instead of being taken up for the purposes of all day parking."
