Parking restrictions to return to Cumbernauld's Tesco Extra

Controversial parking restrictions will come into force yet again at Tesco Extra on Monday, December 5, store bosses have confirmed.

The company has now stated that the car park was too swamped to exist without parking restrictions in place.

Ironically, Tesco was among those willing to waive the restriction which came into play in the summer.

But the company believes that this set-up can no longer continue - simply because its customers cannot find a parking space.

A spokesman said: “We want our customers to have the most convenient shopping trip.

“From speaking to customers, we know that they value having a parking space but unfortunately, many Tesco customers have not been able to get a space since we removed the time limits.

“To ensure that Tesco customers have access to our car park when they come to shop at Tesco, we will be introducing the restrictions.”

These will last for a three hour period.

It has also been confirmed that the restrictions will be automatically controlled via a car registration recognition system.
