The 90-minute Paradigm cards were used by Royal Regiment of Scotland troops for the first time this week, following Thursday's national launch of the Calls For Heroes campaign at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.
Martin Speck, chairman of Carluke Rotary's international committee, told his fellow members and assembled politicians: "If Wallace and Gromit ran a charity it would be called Calls For Heroes!

"While Wallace and Gromit managed to make it from a garden shed to the moon, Carluke Rotary has managed to get these phone cards to Afghanistan."
Commenting on the Calls for Heroes parliamentary reception she sponsored, South of Scotland SNP MSP Aileen Campbell said: "Even though I was unable to attend during my maternity leave I know that there was an excellent turnout.
"Martin Speck and the rest of the team at Carluke Rotary Club deserve a tremendous amount of credit for coming up with the idea and making such a great success of the campaign."
