Former Turnbull High pupil Paul Thomas Bell (29) has become a well-known relationships blogger and is in the running for the UK Blog Awards, being held in London in April.

He’s got tough competition in Naomi Lewis though - who is his boss at Glasgow-based marketing company The Interactive Team.

The pair are fierce rivals in the blogging world but have coincidentally ended up sharing the same office.

Naomi said: “It’s strange being up against each other but we’re genuinely really supportive of one another and have a bit of banter with it.

“At the end of the day just to be shortlisted amongst a host of really talented writers is an achievement in itself and I’m sure it’ll be a great occasion for everybody involved.”

It’s the latest chapter in a story that has seen Paul’s life transformed after taking up writing.

He explained: “I was stuck in a dead end job when I began writing - I’d applied for dozens of jobs and was getting nowhere as I had absolutely no writing experience, so my blog effectively became my CV.

“Within a few weeks I got my first unpaid work writing for FHM and slowly I started to build a portfolio writing for publications all over the world.

“Eighteen months later blogging has led me to my job with The Interactive Team, a column with The Evening Times and Herald Scotland and a few television and radio appearances as well.

“I’m just grateful more than anything. I was always guilty of waiting for things to happen but when I actually bothered to get myself out there that’s when everything changed for the better.”

And the pair are set to work even closer in the future when they launch a business of their own - Lucky 52.

They believe they have spotted a gap in the market to provide social meda management and consultancy services to companies.
