‘Pay day loan’ sought for survival of Lanark’s Cargill Club

A WELL-known Lanark club, dear to the town’s heart, has been forced to seek a `pay day loan’ to survive.

The plight of the Cargill Club has led it to ask for an `advance’ on its annual grant from South Lanarkshire Council.

The council was due to confirm the granting of that request today (Wednesday) and is expected to retrospectively agree to release immediately the £4900 it was not due to pay the club until the start of the new financial year in April.
