Pedal power in aid of charities

THREE Cumbernauld lads are jumping on their bikes and tackling the West Highland Way in a bid to help beat cancer.

Stuart MacKinnon (28), from Eastfield, Darren Nicholl (24), from Dullatur, and Stuart Giles (30), from Condorrat, will cycle the route from Milngavie to Fort William from March 21 to 23.

The trio are hoping to raise money for two cancer charities, which they have chosen for specific reasons.

Strathcarron Hospice, because they currently help people dealing with the illness, and Cancer Research UK because they are seeking a cure.

Raising money for the charities is very important to all three, as they have each had people in their families who have had cancer.

Darren, however, chose Strathcarron Hospice because his girlfriend Lauren McNulty’s gran Rene Forsyth volunteered in the Cumbernauld shop before she died from cancer.
