Pensioner set for nippy dip to raise vital funds

An 83-year-old grandad is among hundreds of people who will brave the freezing Firth of Clyde in the annual ‘Dip wi a Nip’ on Boxing Day at Prestwick.

Bill McNiff has taken part in the event, which raises money for the CLIC Sargent charity, since it began.

The former paratrooper and boxer lives in Kirkintilloch.

Organisers are looking for volunteers to help with a variety of duties, such as marshalling, registering the dippers on the day, handing out goody bags, setting up event at the beach and bucket collection. Contact May Gilchrist on 01292 692113.
