Pensioner's birthday boost for Marie Curie

A pensioner has celebrated her 80th birthday by raising £720 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Instead of giving her presents, Cumbernauld woman Margaret Stone asked her friends and family to make a donation to the cancer charity.

Margaret said: "The work the Marie Curie charity does is just marvellous.

"It's the way they can treat patients in their own home, day and night, without them having to go into hospital.

Margaret is pictured presenting the cheque to Marie Curie volunteer Eleanor Rattray.
